Startup India certificate registration is required if you want to operate a business in the country. The procedure is simple but you must keep certain things in mind. For example, you cannot start a new business if you already have an existing one. Moreover, the business should not have a turnover above 25 crores and should be operating in the country for at least five years.
There are several government organizations that help start-ups in various ways. You can apply for government grants, or you can approach a loan provider to get funding. For instance, you can apply for the Stand Up India Scheme or for the National Small Industries Corporation Subsidy. Startups must be innovative and have a scalable business model. You cannot use a certificate if you are a spin-off of an existing business or a business that was incorporated before April 2016. However, you can claim a tax exemption certificate after 10 years if you are a startup.
Once you register your business in Startup India, you must upload the required documents. These documents need to be in PDF format. You must also upload your incorporation certificate. If you do not, you can be penalized by the government by up to 50% of the paid-up capital and/or Rs.25,000.
